Counselor in Training (CIT)

(Girls Entering grades 8-12)

Girls entering 8 thru 12th grades are invited to apply for a CIT position at Forest Freinds and Explorer camps. Girls entering 11 thru 12 grades are invited to apply for CIT positions at the Cadette camp.

What is CIT?

A Counselor in Training (CIT) is an older girl who attends camp and helps the adult volunteers run the camp. CITs organize and run activities, teach younger girls camp ways, lead adventures, run campfire programs and act as role models for younger campers.

Please also read our CIT Program Description.

Why be a CIT? (What's in it for me?)

A CIT also gets to experience the fun of being at camp, renew friendships and create new ones, and she also participates in many of the activities. You will find yourself challenged in ways that will lead to your growth and experience. Best of all, you will create lifelong memories.

How do I apply?

In order to apply, you must follow the following steps:

  1. Complete a camp registration form.
  2. Complete a CIT application.
  3. Mail them both with the appropriate deposit to Camp Tall Trees, 1635 Prairie Hawke Ct, McKinleyville, CA 95519
  4. CITs are eligible for Financial Aid depending on family income. Check our Financial Aid page.
  5. Once we receive your application and have reviewed it, we will contact you.

Program Aide positions are filled based on the following factors: availability of positions,
previous experience, skills and the date your registration is received. So send your registration in early. If we are unable to find a position for you, we will refund your deposit.
